Default ls6 cam in my tahoe

hey guys im really interested in adding an ls6 cam with ls6 springs nd push rods on my tahoe the guy wants 240 for that

1. i know there are better cams out there but i am on a budget and as a college student not too much to spend on parts.
2. i need a cam to pass emissions and from what i understand the ls6 cam will pass
3. i know that the ls6 cam pushes the powerband up but what i have not found anywhere is how much does it push it up? at what rpms will i start to feel the difference?
4. i do plan on upgrading to a tb stall in the future which should help with the higher power band right?
5. this tahoe is my daily driver and thats another reason this cam is what im looking at. i do not tow or do alot of highway driving but i do want to get a good feel in increased power
my current mods are lt headers with ORY, BB tune, CAI, corvette servo, i plan on adding a nnbs intake manifold and 92mm throttle body and a tb stall in the future

I would look into a stall convertor first then go from their
I would think a xr265hr would be a much better cam

What year Z06?

The LS2 cam would probably be better suited for you seeing as the later LS6 cam loves RPM. The earlier LS6 cam is the same exact grind as the LS2. It will also haev the cam timing sensor in the correct location making the swap easier (LS2 cam could be a pain in the ***...)

That said you will see a nice bump over 4k with the LS6 cam. Off idle it will be noticably less potent. You're gonna want shift points as high as 6300 with this cam as well.

You're not going to like this advice, but I'm saying it anyway. Don't mess with your DD! From the pic and your mod list, its a nice ride. If you're budget is so tight that you need to run a less than optimal cam; Do you think you'll have the budget to fix it if it breaks?

Theres a lot of merit to this...

Also... the later LS6 cam will really make that 5.3 a dog unless you plan to spin it to the moon. My previous comments were based on it being a LQ4 for some reason.

yea im leaning away from the ls6 cam now but still want to do a cam..from what ive seen you got alot of knowledge on cams so can you recommend me one that could help me out with a gain across most of the rpm range and still not break the bank?

You can buy springs new for 60 bucks
And get a decent cam in the 350 range
And then your only doing it once!
Its not a lite suv i would look into a cam that makes power down low
212/218 or even a little smaller but do your research and only do it once

Done. New cam shipped for $288. You will lose a little bit on the bottom. However, the power will hit hard around 2500rpm and pull hard all the way to 5500rpm. You won't even notice the cam at all with a trailblazer stall. You will gain 60+rwhp and sacrifice basically nothing.
