LS9 Cam in an LQ4
Has anyone here messed around with swapping an LS9 cam into their trucks, specifically an LQ4? I can get one cheap off of my tuner that came out of a brand new ZR1 and am wondering if it's worth it. Looking at spec.'s it seems to be the best LS stock cam, but I'm not too experienced with cam spec.'s so mayber it's horrible, haha, just wanting some input!

The cam to look for that will give you the best compromise is the LS2 cam that has the cam sensor stuff on the back still. Those have shown to make the most power in a LM7 5.3 from top to bottom out of all the factory cams. That would likely give you the most power under the curve.
Other than that look for something like a used comp 212/218. Despite it's larger specs compared to factory cams it's advance really makes it shine down low and it's mid range compared to the factory stuff.

Sounds like you are set on it so not sure what the point of this thread is. These guys are right.. It is designed for a 3400lb car that is supercharged (doesn't need any bottom end power) and that is designed to be revv'd to the moon. Those are all the total opposites that we want in our trucks. We need low end torque, and something that stops making power in the 6000-6400rpm range.
I'd much rather run the LS6 cam in your combo than the LS9. But like e v e r y o n e has said here, there are much better options. Keep an eye on the classified section and the buy sell trade page on facebook and you'll be able to find a 212/218 or triple 12 for what you can buy the LS9 cam for.
