Default LSX Intake

Alright so I've been looking around and have a few questions. Is an LSX 90mm intake or LS6/LS2? (right number) a good mod on a stock motor.

I have an 06 2500hd 6.0 I already have the 90mm TB and the X-link to make it work. The motor has underdrive pullies, e-fans, SLP intake, and magnaflow...Soon to have Pacesetters LTs.

I know the LSX intake doesn't fit stock. I have an 06 so it has the newer style waterpump, I was thinking that a TBS plus a little massaging/grinding/bending might give me the cleareance. What do I have to do with the injectors to make it work.

Is the power worth the time and money, also does the 90mm do anything on a stock 6.0? I need the keep the price under 1k if possible.
Sorry for all the questions

thanks

If you want a 90mm car intake, the best performer is the FAST90. The LS2 intake is also 90mm but has proven to make less power than the LS6 and FAST78 intakes.

The actual 90 mm swap is do able, but it's not a direct bolt-on and will bust your $1000 budget. A new FAST 90 is $750 alone. From what I have read, even the new style waterpump does not clear drive by wire 78 mm TBs. It definately won't clear on a 90mm setup. So you're still going to have to modify the waterpump, relocate the idler pulley, get a new belt, and either make brackets and modify the fuel injectors to get the truck fuel rails mounted to the intake or swap over to a f-body fuel rail and injectors. There are a bunch of other small parts to make it work. Not an easy mod at all.

Chevy High Performance magazine did a test of intakes on a cam only LS1. In that test, with the smallest cam tested (212/218 duration) the FAST90 lost power and torque below 4000 rpm compared to the truck intake. Granted it was aorund 2 hp and lb-ft of torque - basically a wash on the SOTP meter. The peak gains at 6000 rpm were only 8 hp and 8 lb-ft. The gains got better with bigger cams. With a 222/224 cam (decent sized cam for a 6.0), the FAST90 gained at almost all rpms over the truck intake, with peak gains of 11 hp and 9 lb-ft at 6400 rpm. In general, the truck intake held faily well until 5000 rpm. Then the car style intakes had an advantage.

That being said, IMO, for your stock cam and headed HD truck, you have a lot of other mods to do that would improve performance alot more than an intake swap.

i keep hearing a ls2 truck (TBSS) intake is a easier swap, get that ported along with the stock 90mm and that some decent gains for far less than the price of a FAST and fab work
