Default LT1 engine questions

I found a 97 LT1 block and was wondering, what is the difference between the LT1 block and the LS1 block? I was thinking that the LS1 is an aluminum block and the LT1 isn't, am I right? Also would I be able to make the LT1 into a LS1? They are the same specs right, I can just install all LS1 parts like the heads, cam, crank, intake etc.. would they all fit?

not the same type block, i believe the only similarity is the main journal size between the two but i could be wrong about that part. they are totally different motors though. the LT1 is a torqy motor though, and very sweet for swaps into street rods just like the LS1 is, but LT1 parts seem to be getting cheaper quicker than LS1 parts are, especially since the LT1 parts are compatible with old Gen 1 SBC parts.
