Default Ly6 build to replace l92 in 2008 Yukon Denali?

Well my current l92 in my Yukon isn't sounding really good. It has around 22lbs of oil pressure when warmed up. So instead of messing with it I'm just going to throw in a new motor. I would just get another l92 swapped in and call it a day but they range from 2100-3k. I have a 18 Camaro SS,a 06 Ls3 swapped Vette and turbo Cadillac ATS so I'm not trying to spend to much on this truck. I also don't really use my truck unless to haul something or snow on the ground. Anyway i was thinking of getting a ly6 out of a 07-08 HD truck throwing in a small cam and tune. I can have this for under 2k. I know the ly6 is Iron and my l92 is aluminum but not worried about the 75-100lb difference. What do you guys think of this? Any other engine options out there I'm not thinking of? Thanks in advance

If you're willing to spend $2k on an LY6 6.0L, why not just spend a tiny bit more and get the L92? The LY6 doesn't have variable cam timing so that's a huge loss in my book. Unless you can tune yourself and already have HP Tuners, you need to factor in the cost of a tune as well. I would just put the right engine in it and be done. Also, 22 PSI of oil pressure isn't really bad. Both my L92 and my L94 are near there when hot and they both run like a top.

I just pulled up a picture of what I thought was the LY6 and it didn't have variable timing so I guess that wasn't an LY6. Either way, if you spending almost the same amount of money I can't see a reason not to just get the L92 in the first place.

Because... a cammed LY6 is cheaper than than an L92 all said and done and it would walk on a stock L92. Seems like a good enough reason...

Really? What cam will do that? Seriously, I’d like to understand because I’m not an expert. The L92 is rated for 39hp and 34tq over the LY6. I’ve been researching cams for my L92 and all the cams I’ve found that are mild enough to not require an expensive torque converter or other expensive upgrades like dual valve springs and hardened pushrods are only claiming a 20-30hp/tq gain.

Using underrated numbers GM provides for the 6 liter isn't really a good comparison. Why are they that way? You are dealing with an engine for fleet use on 87 fuel with no timing in it compared to a half way supposed performance one with the recommendation of using premium gas. The LY6 and L96 were rated at 380 hp and 400 lb ft for marine use.. same engine with no internal changes and still shoddy tuning for 87 fuel. So now you are are only 23 hp and 17 lb ft behind. A good tune and even a mild cam will blow right past that in the real world. A good tune on one of these 6 liters is in the 35 hp range at the tire on premium gas.. Sure you can mod the L92 and make much more than its factory 403 hp rating again but when one engine is worthless to buy and one commands some ridiculous premium price you have money to spare to do it. Stock for stock you are down 0.9 of a point in compression and use a slightly milder cam than an L92 with a 12 cubic inch deficiet.. same heads and same intake manifold.
