Another thing is timing. I was getting a little more KR with the 2.75". My stock CR was 10:1, but even with my ported heads pulling it down to about 9.6:1, I still got a little more. With the 2.9" I was able to run with no KR up top and 2 degrees more timing.

I think to find the right combo, you need to have both pulleys. Make runs at the track with adjustments to tunes in between and find out what works best.

yeah, thats what I'm thinking too. The KR you were getting with the 2.75 was at higher rpms? I've got the LQ4 setup so my stock radix pulley is 3.1.
I'd like to get a 2.9 and a 2.7 (2.75 if 2.7 not available).

I believe even with enhanced cooling, the differences in a 2.75" and a 2.9" pulley will be negligible.
18,000rpm reliably is what I've heard.

do you think you could have gained more hp had you been able to control the heat with the 2.75? hypothetically of course, or do you feel otherwise?

Yes, you could gain. But like I said, the diff btwn 2.75" and 2.9" in boost was only about 3/4 of a pound of boost. I have digital gauge, so it was easy to see it.
