The Magnaflow Drone is killing me - I'm about to put my stock exhaust back on

Yea i guess i see...
and the looks too but my hooker max flow is exactly like that straight through and quiet drivin but loud when you mash on it. I guess a lot of it is the polished look of the corsa and mag...

I've had Flowmasters, Magnaflows, Dynomaxes, & FloPros, and Corsa just blows them away. I didn't want to spend big bucks on an exhaust system, but I got what I paid for - crap. I should have done the Corsa from the get-go and I would have been money ahead.
Just food for thought.

I have a Hooker Aerochamber thats about 24 inches long and I dont have any drone. Well, only a little while axcellerating at a certain rpm. But you have to hold it at that rpm to make it do it. Its only a little louder than stock.

I'm using the same Magnaflow, but with long-tubes without cat's and it was getting pretty anoying to me as well - so I added 3" Dynomax Bullets in front of the muffler as resonators and it killed just about all the drone and quiet'd it up a substantial amount.

I used to have stock piping, no cats, and a borla pro-xs (big case) 23"case and it was pretty quite, too quite that I had to change it..... if all you have is $100 for now, just put back the stock muffler...
I put my stock muffler back on my z71 today with no cats and I am loving it... the flowmaster + no cats just wasnt for my dd.... and no even though with the stock muffler on it has a very very very little roar to it @ WOT...

I have the Gibson Duel Sport, exiting in the stock location and I love it. At idle and cruising speed it is silent, just sorta has that little rumble that youd expect from a V8, but when I mash it, it roars...I have no clue what exactly Im losing with the cats still in, but there is no drone, no annoying sounds what so ever...just pure blissful V8 sound. I paid about 400 for it with shipping from sportztrailers on ebay, hes out of NM, and its aluminaized stainless, doesnt rust, and the tips are polished stainless. I couldnt be happier. A friend of mine has a Corsa on his Suburban, and it doesnt sound nearly as throaty as mine, I was rather dissapointed with it actually.

I"ve got a 4x9x11ish Magnaflow on mine with 3" single exiting in the stock location and must say its absolutely the most interstate friendly performance mufflers I"ve ever had. I can drive it at 75mph all day and you barely know its there. It also idles very quietly.
Once you dip into the throttle though it'll scare children and small animals.
I've never had corsa, borla or any of the other big $$$ brands, but I don't see me liking them any better than what I have now.

Well, I got to looking at it closer last this morning and I'm starting to wonder if the horrid drone is from the exhaust tip location and or the exhaust tip size. I snapped some pictures with my cell phone, the quality is bad but at least you get the idea.
I hate exhaust systems that hang low, that's why I made an extra effort to get the SS tip close and tucked to the body so that the body lines of the box flowed with the exhaust tip.
On the 2nd picture here, you can get your finger inbetween the tip and the box but that's about it. There's less clearance here than with a stock system. I'm almost wondering if this is what I'm experiencing is the exhaust note from the tip transferring into the truck box.
I wonder if I should try a longer rubber. Huh uhuhu uhuh uhuh I said rubber. Anyways, where can you get these things and what're they called incase I call auto parts stores. I may try one that's an inch longer to get the tip away from the truck box.
And then last but not least, a full picture of the truck for those of you who like RCSB's
I am going shopping at lunch today to see if I can get some longer exhaust rubbers, it'll be a quick easy test anyways. Otherwise if that doesn't do it, the stock system is going back on this weekend. On a lightly modded truck like mine, I can't imagine the magnaflow catback is worth more than 8 RWHP or so. The best mileage I ever got in my truck is with the stock exhaust system in place so maybe this is a sign.

putting a bullet in front of your muff will kill a little of the drone, or a Loud Mouth 2 (long one, not the short one) resonator. They usually go for about $40 bucks on tech, just search around
