For more sound from your existing magnaflow muffler, just cut off the tailpipes a few inches after the muffler. You can do that yourself. If you like it, get some turn down tips put on, or just leave it as-is. No one will see jup under there anyway.

If you want that Fbody sound, either remove or gut your catalytic converters, then change the muffler to a dynomax 3" in / out bullet racing muffler. The bullet will take a little of the edge off the sound, but will keep it plenty loud. Just dump it with turn downs at that point.

I had this problem. I liked the magnaflows' sound but it wasn't loud enough. A few people recommended a Dynomax Bullet, so I had one put on.

It sounds, friekin, bad, ***.

Really great sound at idle, thundering sound on partial acceleration, and it basically roars at full throttle. Fortunately it doesn't really sound like open exhaust, and they've quieted down a bit after driving it a hundred or so miles(which is good because the pounding/thundering noise at part throttle was making my ears ache)

Everyone comments that it sounds like a 350 when they hear it. It really doesn't sound like a little 4.8 any more.

I sent you 2 emails this was the first i think. Here is a copy of the second one.

I didnt think you would mind responding to a magnaflow question.I have used several magnaflows in the past and I am looking to do something again.I will copy and past my sig from the Ls1 tech board.

I have dual 3" going in,what muffler are you using on the hummer? or the escalade?
Of these magnaflow PN do you have a recommendation?

I am after flow and not noise or drone. Please advise. Thanks Gonzo 6.0

**** If I read this correctly you weer looking for "FLOW AND NOT NOISE OR DRONE"

I made my recommendation based upon your criteria of flow
this was my response:

12398 3" / dual 3" (internal perforated X) 5x8x24

12763 3" / dual 2.5" 7x7x24
12762 3" / dual 2.5" 7x7x30

12590 3" / dual 3" 5x11x22

12599 dual 3" / dual 3" (internal perforated X) 5x11x22

From what I can tell it seems you are going to be working with a 330-350 RWHP combo.

Are you looking to do dual in / single out, true duals or whatever works best?

I would stick with a dual 3" inlet muffler with at least a single 4" or dual 3" outlet for best flow. A dual 2.5" will flow the cfm however if noise is not an issue the 3"s will give you room to grow. I prefer the 5x8x24 with perforated internal x because it saves mass and space. I also prefer the sound/tone of this muffler with 6.0L and larger applications. The 5x11x22's are more for resonance control, but are much more bulky.

I believe I gave you the information to make your own decision and I really hope you were not bashing my recommendations based upon your decision. Maybe I misread your request but even still I recommended the 5x11x22 if you wanted resonance control.

Is there even a muffler on the SLP loud mouth exhaust? I am seriously thinking about uuting off my muffler and putting a 3" in. 2 1\2 out y-pipe on and running it to the back w/tips. Any comments or sugesstions?

Good to hear from you Ox.

How much does the 5x11x22 dual 3" in / out muffler drone in an extended cab? I've put off getting a muffler until last because I don't want the drone.

Would a multi-chambered muffler in combination with a straight through round magnaflow be an effective solution to drone? I'm thinking that the chambers for sound cancelation, and the round muffler to strip off the drone.

I'm personally willing to run multiple mufflers in series if I gain flow without adding the drone. I don't mine the aggressive sound on the outside, just not that 1800 rpm freeway stuff.
