mail order pcm tune questions
from what i've read, a/f ratio is critical. the installation of exhaust or intake messes with a/f ratio a little bit and stock a/f is not ideal either. can these mail-order tuners predict reasonably closely how to adjust a/f ratio?
also, what kind of stuff should i request?
i just have intake and exhaust
i know e-fans turnon, torque management reduction, all around timing and a/f optimization, speed limiter take away...but what else?
what should i ask to be done to the tranny? will wot shifts at 6000 rpm instead of 5500 be any better? does my 04 silverado have "abuse mode" and should i get it turned off?
if anyone lives in western washington, what place can dyno or street tune my truck?
thanks for any tips on what to ask for

you will gain some good hp with a tune, tqm taken out, limiter raised on speed as well as the shift points, it helps when you replace the cam, if you added a K&N filter and upgraded the exhaust, the tune will take advantage of the better flow that now you have.
performance is the biggest gain you will receive from the tune and it is very noticeable.
some of the mail order tunes are very good, but it is better if you have a local place to take it.
that way if you do something major to the motor getting the tune updated is not that far away. or you tell who did your tune by mail what you did and wait by the mail box for your new update to arrive.
if there is no one local then mail order will be the way to go, on the mail order tune I would recommend Allen at Allen Nelson's performance.

I got a mail order tune from wait4meperformance, and I'm happy with it. I do have a few shakes in my dyno, so a dyno tune would be better, but for $150 with a new pcm, I just couldn't pass it up.
