Well that sucks , I have no drone at all , my exhaust is full 3.5" from y pipe back .

I take it you bought a SI/DO muffler ? You might have to add a small resonator to help with the drone , every setup is a lil diff though .

Exhaust sucks , you know what sound you want but trying to assemble parts to make it perfect is basically a crap shoot

I had the exact same problem with my Suburban. Put the headers and Y pipe on running the Borla cat back and it was loud as hell and the drone was killer. I swapped the muffler back with the factory one and I love it. Still has a nice rumble to it but tame enough.

The drone isn't going to get better with time, in fact as the muffler settles in you'll think it gets worse. Those 4" tips are going to cause a hell of a deep drone in the cabin. If you took them off and ran straight pipe out the back I think you'd notice a large reduction in noise

I tried a single 6" tip on mine once and while it looked cool it was TERRIBLE on the interstate.

That's the muffler I want to run myself. I hope it's tame enough under light throttle

I have a 03 4.8 with longtubes and offroad y with the stock muffler (very quiet)

but i also have a QTP cutout that i can use to basically run open headers (Very awesome) i would go this route again if i got another truck with headers.

my setup did EXACTLY the same drone. Dual 3" straightpipes with a Magnaflow 12599 muffler.

I just added these resonators and the drone is 80-90% GONE!

I'm glad they worked!! I've put them on both a turbo truck and my Dmax and works awesome! 30" seems to be the magic number for the length of them.

Thanks for the tip. I'll see how much my exhaust guy will work these up for.
