manifold bolt

Default manifold bolt

hi guys i did a tune up on my truck this last weekend and when i was replaceing the back right plug i noticed my far back exhaust manifold bolt sticking out so u grabed on to it and it just pulled out and i looked at it and 25% of it is missing i think it is broken off in the head how can i fik this? the exhaust gasket is not leeking yet but i have no idea how long it has bem broken for either

Yeah this seems to be a common problem with the LS truck motors at least. I have had 2 of mine do the same thing and one more broke when I was doing a header swap and wound up having to pull the head so that i could get to it to drill it out. But if you have room you should be able to drill a hole through the bolt and get it out with an easy out. If you cant get it that way you can just drill the hole and rethread it maybe youll have room to get to it, but if not you may have to pull the head. As far as the gasket goes they are very tough for stock gaskets but im pretty sure it will fail eventually, but who knows when that will happen.

X2^^^^ you can try to go in thru the inner fender well, try pulling off a wheel and remove the inner fender and see if that helps you out.

thats common on the drivers side because it does not have a cut in the manifold between 3 and 5 like the passenger side does between 4 and 6 that allows it to expand and contract. if its not leeking dont mess with it.
