Default mass air flow sensor

i have a 96 rcsb with a chip, intake, and exhaust and i was wondering if i can gutt out my stock mass air flow sensor? and if i can how would i do it and would any engine lights come on inside the cab? if anyone could help i would appreciate it!

You can descreen it and may notice a litle extra air flow. Just be carefull not to touch the sensors. It won't set off any lights.

I'd just leave it alone personally. There are better ways to gain power and for something that may or may not add more than 5rwhp you could end up with problems that are not worth the extra power. Ported MAFs are a tuners worse nightmare. LOL

i took my screen out. wish i didn't.

so overall, DON'T DO IT. you will not see any gains. better chance of getting headaches

I took all the screens out of all my vehicles and saw gains with no problems, but i really dont know about the whole porting thing. I've never gone that far, and I'm afraid to.

I think it would affect the air metering too much to tune properly. It may not set off any codes, and have actuall HP gains on slightly modded engines, but with alot of power and with a power adder you need exact A/F.
