Default metal in my converter!

Just found out that I have metal in my converter. When I drained it I put a rag over so I could see if there was any in it. Very Very small peices. I'm wondering if draining will be good enough for it to go in the new tranny. My guess is that it's not. If not then is there any where else I could look to get it flushed instead of sending it back to TCI?

If the converter has metal in it I would have it cut open, checked and cleaned. Why take the chance you can probably use a local rebuilder to clean things up for about $50.

I bet the unique foaming action of Kaboom Bowl Cleaner would clean it out!

Ok seriously.. I would take it out and have it cleaned out. You will also want to check your trans cooler, lines and the filter on the trans if you have ran it at all.

The shop building your tranny should have a machine to flush the lines and cooler. They probably know of a rebuilder that can clean assemble and rewield your converter.I bet that TCI would refurbish your converter for a reasonable price, you might call or e-mail TCI.

So there's no way for me to do it? He did say the tranny was in mobile today and will be here tomorrow. I need to get my truck back on the road so I can quit bumin rides. But I dont wanna half *** do it either though. Any one know how long it would take for TCI to do it?

The guy at TCI told me I could either send it to them and have it flushed. Or I could use somehting like diesel to pour in it and drain it for about 4 hours. and do that about 4 times. What would you guys do?

Whitt 1
You of all people should know most trans shops dont have the ability of wacking open converters to be cleaned and rebalanced and welded. It takes a converter builder to do it.I spent $80 to do mine locally.Yank wanted $200 + shipping. What did you spend?

Ok guys got my new tranny today. The input shaft of my stock tranny seems to have a check ball in it. The new one does not. Whats up with this? Does it need to be put in the new one, and what does it do?
