metal plate under my FIPK filter...
I know this has been covered before but never found out what the verdict was...would this just yield a lot more dirt in my filter and nothing else or would it yield a possible gain at higher MPH, or is it just pointless to remove it?

I would think that it would let in more cold air when moving unless youa are doing some serious offroading.
If you see dirt getting on your K&N either put the plate back or get a K&N PreFilter

Yea, what he said. Do you drive on asphalt or dirt roads?
I took mine off since I drive on asphalt 99.9% of the time. No SOTP gain, but I'm sure cooler air gets in than with the plate on.

I had mine off and sucked up a TON of bugs out in the sticks where I live. I didn't notice any power gains either with it off...it does suck in cooler air fo' sho' but the extra crap off the road I don't want in my filter. Like I said I noticed no power gains...
I did just order a Precharger and will toss that on when I receive it next week.
