Talking Mild Cam Assembly

Need some help on choosing a mild cam assembly for my 2013 GMC Sierra 5.3L. Im looking for something just above stock. (I understand "Go big or go home" but Im looking to keep it simple with this one. Its a daily driver but i only put about 7k miles a year on my trucks. I work offshore 21-7 so it sits more then its driven.) Anyway, i want to use as many stock parts as possible. If possible. Im just beginning to wrap my head around engine mods so please bare with me. Thanks for any help guys. Loving the site so far by the way!!

I just put a sdpc HT-1 cam (214/218 duration 55x 56x lift on a 111 lsa)in my daily driven 5.3. Stock trans and stall at this point and long tube headers. I used stock ls6 blue valve springs ls7 lifters ls2 timing chain and sdpc pushrods to do the swap... I'm real happy with the performance and how it drives on the street.

I think it was around$600 for everything for the cam swap. Cam springs push rods lifters lifter trays timing chain head bolts head gaskets crank bolt cam sprocket bolts... There is a noticeable power increase but I haven't got on it too hard yet due to the stock 265,000 mile transmission.

Where is the best place to purchase these parts? Also, I heard the same thing about the comp cam that work within the DOD/VVT parameters. I have been talking with a comp cam rep for awhile about trying to find what would be best for me. Do u have any of the part numbers for that cam & for the LS6 springs? I wish I knew more about which springs, rods or whatever other parts I could run instead of buying all new ones from comp.
