Most normal people would notice a new cluster and ask the ? but there are some
stupid people out there! I mean really stupid people! What tool do they use to reset or adjust the mileage???? IS it something the dealership can do because I have a real good buddy that is a service manager and if it could save me a bill it would be nice!

if you put an new cluster in (i.e. escalade). Does the ECM keep track of total mileage? or is the cluster the only way to keep track of it? If the ECM does keep track of total mileage. why waste the 100 bucks, just write down what your milage was when you switched. If anyone ever questions it, chevy could verify with scan tool correct?

Tech 2 is not going to do it.99-02 the milage is stored in the cluster,03-up is stored elsewhere.Yes you can just stick a different cluster in there and screw somebody but you better make sure your milage is compatable with your service record, warranty record, any type of wreck your vehicle has been in because carfax and the rest of them won't lie.

i was wondering supposedly my truck has a tranny cooler but there is no gauge on my dash. Say i put the escalade cluster in would it read the tranny temp or would it have to be wired in?

Funny, I know someone who took their cluster out of the truck, so he didn't put the mileage on it. He drove it across 3 states with no guages, just to skimp on the mileage! What a dumb f*ck! Personally, I wouldn't take that risk.

I wonder if the 03's would keep the mileage if you swapped clusters?

99-02 is definitely stored in the cluster. You can actually remove the whole backplane board and transfer it to the new cluster. BUT then the trans gauge won't work and the speedo calibration is off ( 100 vs 120mph ).
Dealer tells me they can "uplink" the PCM/ECM data to get the actual chassis miles. They cannot do the speedo correction on-site ( wolf guarding the henhouse ) but will send it to a central processing facility.
All clusters are plug-and-play. The trans temp sensors are on every vehicle but most do not have the gauge.

Default 2 Questions?

Where is the milage stored on an 03?
Is there a cluster that goes higher than 120 mph?
