Default milling 317s to match 243's cc

any one done this or something similar?

I'm wanting to get some heads for a LS1 5.7 bore. (5.3 bored to a 5.7)

I'm trying to get around paying a higher price with the 243s. This is a budget build for a 2000 s-10 project. I want to use a 226 Patriot cam. I'm wanting 64cc chambers, just like the 243s, but without the price.

So far I'm using stock flat top Ls1 pistons, and that's it. It's either the milled 317s, or do some home ported/milled 241s.

I currently have both sets of heads. (317 and 241)

That would require alot of milling, probably so much that it would start to hurting the flow of the heads. 72cc to a 64cc is a big jump.

if the engine is going to be forged, you could do some domes to bring back up the c/r with the 317's and leave the chambers stock.

no other power adders, 4L60e trans, 4.3, single cab, 2-4 drop

that's what I figured, but I'm more worried about the valves hitting the sides of the piston walls. I've already seen this on a set of heads . . . . (member on here)

he's settled on some flat top, Hypernutechnic (not forged) pistons.

you should be fine with the LS1 bore... the 241's work well but it taked a lot of porting to make them flow like a 317...

Have you tried trading the 317s for some 243s, someone maybe going F/I and needs a lower CR.
