with those cubes and your weight i would go bigger than a 226 cam. i have a 226 cam and LOVE it. if i were a single cab i would have the 228 and if i were as light as a s10 i would be in the 230's. go bigger IMO. it will take some away from the bottom end to put the power where you can use it. a big smoke show lauch is useless. with a truck that light take some away from the bottom and put it up top IMO.
A custom dyno/street is what Erik's truck will get. Tuning is no secret language that is a god given right. Paying attention to detail, and taking your time is the key.

IMO the 226 is good for him since it's a daily driver, unless he would do a custom grind 230/232 .6xx/.6xx 114 lsa Dunno exactly the lift specs, but Mike put a similar cam in a FBody and it made some damn good power for not being a bitch at idle.

Is that for a complete harness that will adapt the body controls as well? Sounds like a good idea to me.

i wont deny that a 226 cam is a badass cam for an ls1 and 6.0. its done me good, and ap is pushing some amazing times with it too. regency and dry_kill have the cam too and are doing great. but a truck that light wont need as much bottom end as us heavier trucks. the cam that you just mentioned would definately perform better at that weight level IMO. the higher duration and higher lsa will make that cam idle great but not let it bust loose(as bad) at any throttle level. on street tires i have MAJOR traction issues. i couldnt imagine the issues my setup would have in a 3500 lb truck. camaros get away with it so if the s10 hooks, it will definately fly. its guna take alot if tire to get it to stick...thats all im sayin. if yall already have the cam go with it i love it! what size converter are yall planning?

ill take that as a complement thanks. if you have any questions about my setup/or my input dont hesitate to ask. all of my trucks details are in the forums somewhere if you search... some of them i would like to change. i dont hide anything because i learned from everyone elses shared setups to get where i am today. if my info helps someone else go faster im all about it

this forum rocks like that! unlike alot of other forums where people like to keep secrets :boo:

there's nothing to hide about this swap.

We/he hasn't decided on a stall yet. I was thinking about a 3200 or a 3K. It's a 5.3 block that's been bored to a stock sized LS1 bore. Speed Pro pistons, and stock internals. It's a daily driver/street beater. It'll never tow anything, except for a fat sack for the track it that.

i think its like .006 per 1cc so 72 - 64 = 8cc to mill!! 8 x .006 = .048 mill. so really a .036 mill and .040 gasket would be alot better

Just call and ask Gunnar for the $425 heads. They're not listed on their site. ALSO don't think of milling 317's down that freaking much. You'll never get the intake manifold to seal properly (geometry will be off) and the cost to mill + shorter pushrods will cost more than if you just sell the 317's take that cash and add $200 to it and buy the new heads. Use common sense here
