I have previously had a 40 series on stock exhaust. If you live in texas you will fit right in. Its a deep tone and lots of drone! I personally would go after something different ( I love my Corsa!!) But if you must go with a flowmaster go with a 40 series single in/dual out dump'd. But I will say its night and day between a flowmaster and a straight through design like a Corsa or Magnaflow.

the differences between their mufflers are
1. size of cases (HxWxL).
2. number of chambers (40 series has 2, 50 has 3, etc).
3. the number of baffles/angled plates inside and the way they are configured.
Flow rates will vary slightly between mufflers, but not by much. If you notice that Flowmaster worries about nothing more than the sound I have yet to see any documenting on their own website about actual flow ratings.
Fwiw the smaller the muffler dimensions the louder it will be, and the more chambers it has the less drone it will have. The different models have different chamber/baffle/case sizes to give slight differences in sound between models. The differences are where the pitch is amplified at no one can say exactly how one over the other, but they will all sound similar. By the way there are tons of videos on u-tube of guys idling and revving their trucks, along with some videos being taped inside the truck to show how much resonance the muffler has.

out of all the trucks ive heard with flowmaster's I like the Super 44's only one other guy and I have it on a 5.3 around my area. I think they sounds a little deeper and more aggressive than a original 40.

I've thought about the magnaflow but it sound alittle higher pitched on the videos. But all the flowmasters I've owned droned. My truck cruises around 2-2.5k. I'm affraid the drone will be bad.

it will be bad, but depending on if you take the pipe out the back of the truck or not, and what series muffler you go with it may be slightly better.
there was a thread here on using a branch resonator/Helmholtz resonator to eliminate drone, i think there was even a calculater on it.....
found it
