Default more more low end

02 gmc z71 5.3 Ive done exhaust intake and nelson 91-93 tune, a trans-go is next the engine really seems to wake up after 3k rpm. it will pull past 90 mph, best 0 to 60 has been around 7 sec
But I want off the line
1. what can I do without forced induction
2. Im not sold on shorty header gains seem negligable any suggestions
3. stock y pipe looks like s**t are there any aftermarket and will it make a difference?
4. I dont like the limited slip hard to stop wheel spin, is there abig difference with full posi track
this thing is a dog off the line I want tire splitting torque

stall converter indeed if it wakes up after 3k then let it get to 3k and you wont have to worry about it or all you would have to do for tire splitting torque is add the fog to it that will add torque to anything but a stall converter really does sound like a good idea yank it a lot tighter than a lot of the rest and a lot of guys say they still tow real well unlike my tci converter which is great bang for buck but is kinda loose so hope this helps

even though that y pipe may look like **** i would leave it alone. it flows better than you think. if you are goinhg to open up the exhaust even more than you are going to move your power band up some more. imo is gears and a posi. then start looking at stalls.

ive still got stock gears, dont want to raise rpms for highway driving and mpg. Ive been looking into stall converters and have decide to go with either a 2200 or 2400 I dont want to risk overheating the transmission does any body have experience with this what stall speed is good for everday driver without transmission cooler?

on a side note this week I took a roadtrip about 300 miles and for some reason it seems I have gained alot of hp and torque especially down low. I guess it has just taken the nelson tune time to adjust. I floored it through a yellow lite and broke both tires loose at 30 mph this tune keeps getting better as time goes on it improved shifts so much its not even funny I cant wait for the kit and new stall
Ive also gotten 22 mpg on the highway cruising between 70 and 80
i love this tune. 91-93

they're right about the converter. the problem is a lack of cubic inches. more gear or converter will get you into the better power band sooner, but won't fix the low end torque issue. you either need boost or more cubes to fix that.

Yep, stall and gears are your best NA bets.
Headers are going to help upper RPM's and may even cause you to lose some low end trq.

Actually, the roadtrip is the most beneficial low torque adder (other than LT headers). The other items will help with launch and RPM ranges. The 300 mile trip, if you averaged 60mph means every 6 miles your PCM was updating (Cycle) your driving habits to the new Nelson tune and making adjustments. After 50 PCM cycles your corrections (Tune) change the STFT/LTFT to the new tune. While grossly oversimplified, that is why it is running better now.
