Default More power for towing...

truck is a 00 silverado 5.3L 4x4 with 3.73s, mods are cat back, and intake... anyways just got a 26 foot chaparral and the truck is not quite the fastest thing in the world anymore towing... what kind of mods can I safely do that wont hurt the engine under the loads the boat is giving it? Also were in AZ where temps in the summer are typically 110+ during the day so im moving against a supercharger or anything that will build lots of heat.... suggestions besides going to 4.10s or F/I ?

i would think pulleys would help you down low and in the mid range some. maybe electric fans with 160 stat. it should help keep it cooler while freeing up approx 6 ponies at the rear! check out one of the hppIII's for sale in the classifieds. that too could help it out.

Long tubes and this guys tuning
People really brag about this guy.I wouldnt go with 4:10s unless you have 285 or larger tires. What i have found is with 4:10s 3rd is to high2nd is to low for pulling hills.Dont be afraid to tow in 2nd running 3500-4200rpm

who makes long tubes for the trucks? Any benifits to a ported TB? Cant use the hypertech because of AZs heat and lack of good gas, kills all our vehicles out here!

get a programmer, you wont have problems with the gas, these trucks dont really ping unless your running FI or something drastic. I took my truck to AZ a lot and never had problems with the gas and my HPP3.

I would do gears. How about a mild cam??
