More resistance in 04 plug wires

Default More resistance in 04 plug wires

Curious
I tested my plug wires compared to my dads

results
Dad's (4.8) '01 plug wires
430 ohms

My (5.3) '04 plug wires
980 ohms


wtf???

check the length. most wires are so many ohms per foot.

They are both the GM stock wires that's why I was curious.

mine on my 04 are shorter than snakeaters on his 00 thats why i said that.

thats not what i got when i tested wires . i got 2500 ohms from a black 99 wire. can't remember the red 04 wire resistance but i think it was half.

I found the same thing. I was really confused, my truck was listed as having "low resistance plug wires" in one of the specs. That's BS.

2002 5.3 Avalanche ~400ohms

2004 Silverado SS ~800ohms.

The wires look identical.

FWIW: MSD 8.5's or Talor TV50's ~25-40ohms.

FWIW, low resistance wires aren't always good....the less resistance, the more prone to picking up stray signals and interference...
