Default motor mount HELLLLPPPPPPP!

<img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> Got a bad motor mount (Maybe 2) on my 93 GMC (350, SWB) and have NO IDEA how to get started. My useless Chilton manual does not even have the words "motor mount" in the index!

If anyone here has done this on one of these trucks, I would appreciate a little help.

#1 Where do I jack up the block...I can't find a place.
#2 How do I get to the bolts on the top side of the frame to get them out???? <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cry]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" />

Hey dude the Chilton manual sux. I have one for one of our cars and it tries to cover like 5 different models and is very vague in descriptions and pictures. I have Haynes manuals for our other vehicles and they are much better. I used to have a 92 and I still have the manual. I will change the words a bit so I don't get sued. Here goes.

Remove the distributor cap so you can raise the engine without smashing it. (This might not be absolutely necessary so use your own discretion.)

Raise vehicle and place on jack stands.

Remove the nut and take the bolt out of the bracket.

Jack up the engine on the oil pan but put some wood between them so you don't damage the pan. Jack the engine only enough to take the weight off the engine mounts. (Probably an inch or two.)

Remove the bolts securing the mount to the block.

Installation is reverse. Use lock tite on the bolts.

Hope this helps. The pics would make it easier. You should really consider buying this book. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

You know Max, that should have been obvious, but I found a link to this site, saw there was a "GM V8 Truck" forum (notice it does not say LS1 powered or 99 & up) and signed up.

I didn't even know the newer trucks used LS1s...my bad.

For the guy who actually tried to help and didn't pul the "You're in the wrong foruuuuuummmm!" <img border="0" alt="[cry]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" /> (in a whiney voice)... Thank you.
