motor swap wire left over

Just checked my chiltons, its the cam sensor.

It's the one on the right, facing the camera.

where does cam sensor go if I was to tell him over the phone and motor is set on mounts.

He said "oval" on the plug.

I put an image in my previous post. Thats the rear of the engine with the intake manifold removed. He might be able to reach it

Just tell your friend to try and reach back there and plug it in.

no it doesnt have to be removed. i've plugged those in with the intake on before.

The cam sensor would give it the long crank condition that you've described and the connector matches the description except for the male terminals....
