I don't think so...My converter bolts were hex head on the outside and allen-head on the inside, you can use both. Are yours different?

I don't think what you are saying will work with holding the crank bolt....when you try to loosen the converter bolts you are going to loosen the crank bolt too. It will work when you put it back in though.

I have a big open-ended wrench that I put around the converter feet to keep the thing from spinning while I break the bolts loose.
What size are they ?

I can't remember off-hand, I'll have to look when I get home. Keep in mind too that I'm running a 4L80E with a 6-bolt Hughes converter, so it may be different.

A screwdriver won't work. I don't see where you could put a wrench. I've been stuck trying to figure this out for 2 hours... Does anybody have any pics?

Do you put a wrench through the bellhousing hole? With the 3 bolt converter, mine's not lining up to do it that way.

Hmmm I forgot about that, since mine is the 80E I have the big dust cover I can remove and expose the entire bottom side of the converter/flexplate.

Well ****, I got the first one out and now the second one is starting to strip the hex-hole in the bolt. Any ideas?

After 2 days of grinding and trying everything possible, I finally fixed the torque converter bolt ground out. Disconnected a few more things and pulled the motor.
