Default Motor won't idle down

My new motor I built this summer won't idle down and stay running. Won't idle below 2k. It acts like a vacuum leak. I've gone thru the carburetor several times and replaced all the gaskets and base gaskets, replaced the power valve, and just pulled the intake and those gaskets look fine.. Its a 377 on methanol with proline 50cc heads. Super Victor Intake. I had one head that dropped a valve and tore up the head, had all that fixed and new valves and guides put in. Solid flat tappet cam 4/7 swap 260/266 @.050 .558/.549 106lsa. I had the same top end on my 355 and ran perfect and always idled around 1k.

Ive got the intake back on and I was thinking about pulling the front cover to check and see if I'm possibly a tooth off. Never been off on my cam gear so I've never witnessed what one would run like a tooth off.

It's a 2 speed manual trans with an internal clutch. There's no vacuum lines.

try pluging all the vac lines if there are any

I had someone bring me a motor with a broken valve guide. It came out of the head, and the engine would run really lean

There's no vac lines. Got the cover off and I've gotta fair bit of slack in the chain but I don't know if that's my problem. With the chain tight on theft side the its about a half a tooth off. I think I'll go ahead and replace the chain but I don't think that's my problem. I gotta pull the trans and replace an oring in the clutch just to turn the motor over, the starter is mounted on the back on the trans. And then ill run my valves again and see if I see anything outa wack there, which I don't think I will.

I'm assuming this motor is in your circle track car? I had the exact thing happening to my circle track car years ago (when I used to race). Ended up being the distributor in my case. What kind of distributor are you using?
