Default Muffler Replacement

Is there a muffler that is a direct replacement for the factory one on a 2500HD 6.0? Something that would offer an increase in performance, but without resonance and drone. It seems a shame to remove all that large diameter stainless steel pipe and replace it with new piping just to get a muffler with a new cat-back.

Thanks,

Mark

What size of pipe is that. Magnaflow makes this muffler that is 22 inches long. It almost sounds stock and you get a nice encrease in performance.

I believe Magnaflow and Flowmaster have a direct replacement muffler for the HD muffler.

if all you want is a different muffler for your stock one just have it cut out and replace it with something with an inlet and out size the same as the stock muffler. SIMPLE ISN'T IT?

better yet, get 2 dynomax bullet mufflers welded to the dual pipes on the outlet of the stock stuff then a Y at the front and mate it into where the stock stuff was. kinda sounds weird but it would work

The stock muffler is 25" long with dual inlets/outlets. Not sure of the sizes, but I think the inlets are 3" and the outlets are 2 1/2". NOT SO SIMPLE, IS IT?

The stock muffler has a single outlet that is 2.75" and dual inlets that are 2.75".....the ONLY muffler I have found that is a true stock replacement is from Flowmaster.....it is a dual 2.75" in/dual 2.75" out 50 series SUV muffler

Ok.. you might want to try this muffler from Magnaflow. The part # is 12579. This particular muffler is 22 inches long and has a 3 inch inch in and out. It should work great for you truck.
Here is the their page... .

Need dual in/out. I'm gonna take some measurements and have Spin Tech make one. If the Flowmaster was stainless, I'd consider it, but all I an find is aluminized steel.
