Yea, that just how they make theirs. Ive used them and the stockers with no problems. just do NOT use the paper gaskets. They will blow out. Been there.

cool since i already have them i might just use them instead of reusing the mls gaskets.

what about the head gaskets? obviously they arent reuseable but what about getting felpro head gaskets? they are MLS and look identical to the GM gaskets but are a little cheaper. only like a $10 difference so if theres any doubts i will just get the gm gaskets.

one more thing, should I stick with factory GM head bolts or would the sealed power or rock products brand work just as good? they are TTY and look identical as the factory ones but im just asking about them and the felpro gaskets because im looking to buy it all at once and thats what rockauto carries, and they seem to have the best prices for the non-GM stuff.

Theres nothing wrong with using aftermarket parts. It will all be just fine. They are all probably the same bolts. Theres only a manufacturer or 2 that make the parts and just sell it to different companies that put their name on it.

So i popped the all the main bearing caps except the rear cap and they all look exactly the same. You can see lines on them but they feel smooth to the touch and there is no discoloration in any way on any of them so as far as I can tell by visual inspection and to my knowledge they seem to look ok but I would like some input on if they do look normal.

So if they are fine I'm going to order the new side bolts, head bolts, etc after xmas and will be finally putting it all back together and waiting for a sunny weekend to throw it in the truck.

Heres a couple pics. let me know if anything looks odd that i'm not seeing. these aren't pics of every bearing but they all look exactly like these
