Get the 160* thermo .. the 180 isn't much of a difference. My 160 runs at 174 consistantly.
I wouldn't bother with shorties ... save some more dough and get the TOG's. They are carb approved too.
Oops .. saw you were already considering them ... the shorties are a waste. More bling factor than anything. You really will thaknk yourself for going with the TOGs instead.

if so then that would probably be cool, I do have the 34" radiator though.
please advise

Your temps will be determined with the fan turn on speed. I also have a 34" radiator and a 160* thermo...I made my own thermo also.
I'd make your own low temp thermo, and get the full length headers instead of fans now. You could also save some $$$ by tossing on a set of LS1 fans instead of the Flex-A-Lites too.

Hitman, thanks, can't go long tube unless they are CARB.
from what I've read, they could use a little more R&D on fitment...maybe not though.
How do you make a 160 degree thermo?
Flexalites are cool by me as long as nelson will be able to control them with my tune...

TOG's are the only CARB ones that I know of.
Basically you take a BB ~.177 cal and drop it inside the thermo housing. I think there was a writeup on here a while back on how to do it. It took me maybe 10 min to do. Save $50.
Well I suggested the LS1 fans over the Flex-A-Lites as they are cheaper. The big Flex's I think pull more air than the LS1 fans but I've never had a heating problem w/ my LS1 fans.
