Default my engine is done and now its tranny time...????????

well like it ses my lq4 is done finally and im curiouse would i be better off getting an 80e tranny and putting that on it or bilding up my 60e... i herd that the 80e requires more things to swap onto my motor?

i have a 2004 silverado w/t edition with the 4.3l....i biult a 2004 lq4 with 40xxx miles to swpa into it. all i did was a clean rebiuld and full bolt on for now later maybe magnacharger...

what do u guys recomend i shud start doing as far as tranny goes...

80e is gonna be the best by far. you need an adapter harness, trans crossmember, flexplate, converter, and driveshaft. chances are you wont break the 80e, and the 60e will keep breakin no matter how you build it. especially if you beat on it a lot

There is a good amount information on here. I pretty sure there is a write up the 80e w/ pics and good detail of parts needed.

What are your plans for the LQ4? If staying NA and not going too wild, I'd do a FLT Level7 65E...much lighter and better first gear. I have an LQ9 shortblock, WCCH StageII 317 heads, and am planning a cam in the 220 to 224ish neighborhood that will eventually go in my truck, and I'm currently paying off my Level7 65E which will see service behind my current 5.3, and eventually the LQ9 also

SSinister 04 I am going with a Hughs Performance 60e Premium Overhaul Race Kit Box with Kolene¨ Steels, their planetary set. Kits going to cost about $1100 but it will be bullet proof pretty much. Labor is $450 where I am to rebuild my 60e with those parts.

I am buying the rebuild kit first about $450, then the Planetary $400 and there is another item I can't remember but it runs $210. Call them up and tell them You want a bullet proof rebuild kit and then the planetarty and anything else they recomend, they will tell you what that other Item is that I can't remember.
