Default 4.8 driven to the shop...LQ9 will be driving out

My lil engine that could had it's last mile under the hood today. Started the tear down process to swap in the LQ9. Swap is going good so far. About three hours into it and damn near have the 4.8 out. I should have the cams and motors swapped by tomorrow afternoon.

I figured I will put the 212/218 in the 6.0 and take the LQ9 cam and put it in the 4.8 for a potential buyer. The 4.8 already has LS6 springs.
I bought brand new blue springs (LS6 springs are no longer yellow?) to go into the LQ9.

I am hoping for about 360 hp out of the new engine. Cam, headers, marine injectors (when they get here) and Wheatley tune...I should be close.

I'll keep ya'll posted on the progress.

Should def get that kinda power out of the 6.0 with the mods you have listed. From the title of the post you made it sound like the 4.8 blew up or died on ya.. Good to know your taking a good engine out..

Good luck bud.

I had a lot of fun swapping my 5.3 for my 6.0 , and the tare down and installation of cam/ springs, lifters ect.. Lots of fun and great learning experience.

Not sure, I thought LS6 springs were yellow too.

I didnt mean to mislead you guys so I changed the title. I am stoked to get this engine running. The LQ9 still has the oil cooler lines . I might have to route those to the front and possibly use my old small tranny cooler. Kinda limited on space up there though...40K takes up alot of room. I might just have to use the block off plate for the time being.

The new LS6 replacement springs I ordered came in painted blue. P/n on the box showed 12499224. I will try to take a pic today for you guys.

No worries.

Mount the 40K to A-frame in front of condensor & rad. There's room, trust me.

Perhaps they're blue now, maybe I did read that, who knows. I know the Comp springs had a few different colors. Mine had a blue strip.

Thanks man, but I already have the 40K mounted similar to yours.
I was contemplating making my old transmission cooler an engine oil cooler. But there is not enough room for that.

The Swap is still in progress. Got both cams swapped, Blue springs in the LQ9 (very time consuming (2.5 hrs). I do not want to swap springs ever again!

A bit of advice...Swaps are alot easier with the intake off. Transmission bolts are very easy to remove if that big piece of plastic is not in the way!

Last order of business today was yank the resilient little engine out of it's home.

Tomorrow will be the day the LQ9 enjoys its spot under the hood.

All this by myself. DAMN I AM GOOD. Or I just cant trust anyone else to do this kind of work with me.
