My little 4.8 drove it's last mile today

Thanks man, but I already have the 40K mounted similar to yours.
I was contemplating making my old transmission cooler an engine oil cooler. But there is not enough room for that.
The Swap is still in progress. Got both cams swapped, Blue springs in the LQ9 (very time consuming (2.5 hrs). I do not want to swap springs ever again!
A bit of advice...Swaps are alot easier with the intake off. Transmission bolts are very easy to remove if that big piece of plastic is not in the way!
Last order of business today was yank the resilient little engine out of it's home.
Tomorrow will be the day the LQ9 enjoys its spot under the hood.
All this by myself. ... Or I just cant trust anyone else to do this kind of work with me.

If it's not my best friend, family, or myself, they don't get friendly w/. my truck either. My tuner or someone I gotta really trust is all else I allow to work on her, esp. if I can't physically do work or don't have the knowhow. (i.e. FLT did tranny). Most instances, I have the tools, & even if I lack the knowhow, I usu. want to try to learn.

On the drivers side there is a power steering cooler, but no stock oil cooler on my truck. I may just keep the cooler lines and look into a factory cooler when I get back from the sand box.

LQ9 is in, almost complete, tomorrow will be the test of how honest the seller was. He must have been a big guy, the oil filter and plug were on so tight I had to use two wrenches on the plug and channel locks on the filter to get it off.
I think (hope) he tried to wash the engine off. There was water at the bottom of the pan that cam out before the oil. Oil was black so I dont think it was contaminated with coolant.
Let's hope all goes well.

LQ9 runs like a raped ape! Had a scare when I started it up...no oil pressure and the lifters were taping bad. Lifters eventually quieted down but the oil pressure never came up on the gauge...Swapped the oil sending unit from the 4.8 and Presto 40 PSI @ idle.
The LQ9 intake was a return style, so I reused my 4.8 returnless style intake.

First drive was lack luster. I had a crated 4.8 and a cherry picker in the back. Had to take the engine home and the cherry picker back to work. Then the fun began. I know why most SSS are AWD. That LQ9 hauls ***! I could only get it up to 50, but getting there was a lot of fun. I also had to fill up with gas...$3.94 x 20 gallons= LOVE IT!

I am glad I went with a bigger motor vs FI. It was cheaper for me. More cubes makes a HUGE difference. With the TC, no way to floor it from a stop. Already scared the wife leaving a stop sign sideways!
It is nice to know that I am at least on par power wise with an SSS.
