Need a 200+amp alternator!
My buddy has a fairly large stereo system with a huge current draw and I need to source a 200+amp alternator that puts out good voltage at idle and low rpms.
Which ones are you guys using?
This is going on a 99' Suburban with a small case alternator.
I found one that is 200amp but is a large case. I am assuming that the companies you guys use have a custom bracket to adapt to the larger case?
Any help would be great

Powermaster makes a 200amp small-case direct-fit alternator for our trucks
if you need more than 200 amps consider a couple of gel-cells mounted under the bed and a few stiffening caps inline to the amps

This is the place I went with. alternators It fit in the stock location. I had it on my last truck for about 2 weeks. Will let go for a good price. I even have the pigtail for it. 200-amp. PM me if you're interested.

I'll probably be going with one of those for my Suburban. I need the upgrade for all of the HIDs and electronics that are running in there.

www.h-o-alternators.com They are a a great company , check out there page lots of useful info. for calculating power draw and how big of alt you actually need. I wouldn't get a cheap brand alt from wherever, the cheap alts dont put out the rated output at low rpms and the 200 amps rating is when they are cold, you may get 120-130 amps at idle when the alt is hot. If you dont find anything at ho that you like do a search for dominick iraggi, he should have what you need, but go to ho first.

the only companies that IMO make decent alternators is Wrangler and Ohio Generator. They are expensive generally about 5-700 bucks, but they have great output. I've used them in several applications and always have good results. The ratings may seem low, buy its because they dont bullshit, especially Wrangler.
