Need good ideas for Ls6 build-up
I have a 2004 Z71 stepside, I am going to build an Ls6 engine for it. This is my first gen III engine I have dealt with much. I already have the new block crank rods pistons lifters bearings and other little parts. Mods I have made to the truck so far, k&n air filter custom cat-back exhaust (aka straights in my neck of the woods), electric fans. What I'm confused about is cam and head selection. My truck is a daily driver, who sees some green light racing occasionally. I don't want a stall converter, nos, turbo, s/c. I just want a good 'ol tire spinning, mustang butt-kicking, hemi eating truck. My plans were to use patriot performance stage II heads, and somewhat lopey cam.
I would like a cam to make power off idle to 5800 rpm, if that is possible.
Most off the shelf cams are like 2000-6500. I plan on using all of my truck parts that I can i.e. oil pan , intake, front and rear cover, flywheel, t/c, and accessories. Any comment or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
