Default NEED HELP FAST - headers/egr

buddy of mine has an 01 with EGR. he bought a pair of ASM headers that do not have EGR. he also went to the dealership and bought the plate that the 02s have for the intake. question is, if we install the headers and plate w/out any tuning how will the truck run? i'm sure it'll throw some codes but will it run fine?
thanks

SES light = pcm defaulting to safety mode

Send the headers back and get the right ones. In safety mode the pcm defaults to limp-nut tune and you wont get the power you should be getting. Besides, it will never pass inspection with the ses light on. Send it back and do it right.

If you baught the headers new, send them back and get the right ones. I would gladly trade with your buddy if he lived any closer. I like the clean look without that useless egr tube sticking out of the header.
