Need help finding a shop in Los Angeles, CA
I am wanting to swap out the current 4.8 to a 5.3/6.0 on a 2005 silverado ECSB. Any recommended shops(specializing in trucks) in the Los Angeles, CA area that will do this?
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks Yelo,
I have found some shops but when I tell them what I want to do(bascially an engine swap from an existing 4.8 to a 5.3/6.0, they say that all they do are rebuilds and specialize in older vehicles only. Is the swap that complicated?
I would think that from a 4.8 to a 5.3 would be a straight swap out and the existing 4L60E transmission should be good, unless I go to a 6.0 then, a heavy duty transmission would be required. What else is required/needed(computer)? This is my first GM product and first truck so any help would be greatly appreciated from all of you.
p.s I Dont want to even think about calling up a dealer to do the job!

The swap is 100% straightforward, EVERYTHING between the 4.8/5.3 and 6.0 will swap over directly....The swap is absolutly the EASIEST swap possible, you literally pull the 4.8 and stuff in the 6.0, swap over all the accessories, plug in the sensors and turn the key !! The 6.0 will even run on the 4.8 tuning (sort of...you'll want to get it tuned for best performance)
I bet if you were to bring the 6.0 to any decent garage and tell them it was a 4.8 they'd swap it over and never even know the difference (all the LSx motors look the same externally)

I have found a shop in the city of Long Beach called Santa Fe Garage. They will do engine upgrades on trucks. They currently do contract work on GM trucks for Caltrans Dept.
By the way I called a local Chevrolet Dealer and asked for quotes on new engines. The price they gave for a 5.3(LM7) and the 6.0(LQ9) was IDENTICAL at $5763.00
