Yeah that is how my LS7 lifter valvetrain sounds like. It is louder than my muffler and annoying as all get out. If I ever run some aftermarket heads I will be buying new lifters lol

I got used to it and ran it hard for a year with no issues. I have those full VMAX insulated engine covers too that help somewhat with the valvetrain racket. Those Morels are so quiet even with .629" lift on the cam and heavy dual .660" springs.

Just to add "Genuine" LS7 lifters part number 12499225 are around $300 a set. So a set of $79 lifters are probably those Delphi bulk LS7 or Chinese knock offs.

The LS7 lifters have a pretty big tolerance on preload so IMO that slightly longer pushrod you went with is still in spec as well as the OEM. I went with aftermarket heads and swapped the cam to a TSP V4 Torquer. This time I went with Morel 6504 lifters that have a very small preload window compared to the LS7 lifters. Measuring I used a 7.525 pushrod because of the PRC heads thicker deck and thicker LS9 gaskets. That sewing machine noise went away and the valvetrain is quiet as a mouse. I'm pretty sure it was those generic Delphi LS7 lifters making the noise.

Here is my LQ9 with the cheapo LS7 lifters & SS2 camshaft sounds like a sewing machine. Ran strong but a little annoying at idle.

The sound on my GoPro kinda goes in & out but you can hear the noise.

Swapped to hardened 7.4 pushrods and a trunnion kit and still had the noise.

Well. there's something. Guess this is my next (again :'( ) direction, or at least gives me something to chase down and research. Thank you!
And idk what I love more, your rcsb or your garage!

from back in 2017 when I BOUGHT the lifters. I'd hoped better but not much I can do now. my Smith bros trunnion bushings are a bit tight too. Replacing them with stockers to test, and I'll go from there but it sounds like I may be replacing lifters. again. Guess now's a good time to look for some cheap squareport heads.

Wouldn't that be cool?!
Nah, but I wanted to ensure I didn't have to re-buy injectors. I was building for ~1k on e85 end goal and 210s fit the bill.. before I found out they're a pain to tune as you've pointed out. as of this moment they're not a problem though so we'll see what happens when/if I figure out what I/all responses I've received lead to believe to be a VT issue.
