take a socket and hammer and lightly tap each spring with hollow side of socket to free them up, then compress them

Like the other guys said, I just tap them with a hammer. I've had to do it on my Camaro before, cuz the springs are huge. Are you compressing the spring a little and then tapping, if not try that. It should free them up.

Make sure you have extra air in the cylinder (something like 80psi) and you will have to hit them with a little bit of force (more than a tap) if they are stuck. It sounds scary, like you may hit a valve into the cylinder, but they will release.
They are just on there because of the pressure the 915 springs put on them.

found out I didnt have the air compressor set high enough
and to add to the frustration, got done with the driver side, and stripped the socket out on the first rocker arm on the passenger side.
oh well, it wont take me long to get it swapped out tomorrow.

any body know the torque specs on the rocker arms? I have forgotten that too..
I think I am getting old, and loosing my memory ... LOL
