Default Need Help With Traction Quick!!!!

Went to the track tonight, first time since i have had my 4.10's installed, with the pcm tune. I hit it from the pit and the tires started smoking. Never happend before. What is the best way to control my traction. Planning on getting a 3000 stall converter, but there is no way with is smoking just with 4.10's. My tire pressure was about 30psi. NEED HELP?????

Change tire type maybe but also do not give it WOT until you are rolling a bit. You might spin the tires abit before run too. nless you go to a much sticker rear tire a 3000 rpm stall would be a waste. Also then real main reason you change the stall is when you cam the engine and changes its torque curve because most people that gain a good bit from them is because they are not geared correctly to begin with and it helps their launch some. In a properly gear car a higher stall will not help that much unless you have changed the engines torque curve to a higher RPM too.

Tread pattern type? (blocky or a basically solid and grooved contact area and brand) Also, how about tire pressure as well.

i disagree about the stall to an extent ... because i know more than one person that started with gears and a stall and the stall (one of wich was a 410 and the other 373) and the 3k stall was still very beneficial as far as take off i agree make sure to take off slow ... i guess the best way to describe it is to roll into it and not deck it right out also practice makes perfect the more i run mine the better i get at it and the lower the e.t's and you could also get a larger radius tire to make it harder to spin in answer to your original question

p.s. i run about 25 psi at the track on stock radials and that helped me out a lot

Tire pressure will help, but if your racing you need drag radials. I use BF Goodrich Comp TA. They work well, but they would last about 2,000 mi on the street.
