Exclamation Need help, Turbo OR Super charge ...!

Hi

First, I want to thank all people who helped me moding my truck

I was thinking very hard the last 2 months. I was thinking what should I do to make my truck goes faster.

I was thinking of engine swap, maybe a 5.3 or 6.0l, but it will cost alot and i think my engine is still new, actully my truck is still new.

So, i thought maybe a turbo or a supercharge will be the best thing to go for.

but then i thought, for a truck a supercharger will be better

now that I have some $$$$$, I searched to know what is the best kit, I found many brands, but Vortech/Magnusun/Procharger are the ones that most members here use.

that I am new to all this, I want your advise especially from people who have or used to have ones on their trucks

I would like to know what is better for my truck.

my truck is 06 silverado rcsb manual transmition 4.8l 2wd.

what i already have on my truck:

ASP pulleys, PaceSetter ceramic-coated Long Tubes Headers, Borla cat-back, volant intake, no tune

I still didn't make up my mind for tuning, but will think about it soon

I also need to mod my transmition and clutch, but i couldn't find anything for my application, if someone can help me find, links, sites ... etc

I only find things for auto trans, but no manual.

I would like to know if there is anything that i should be aware of before moving to this step.

I would like first to know the prices range for these kit, and does these kit come with everything, meaning that if i bought the kit, i will only need to install it, i wont need to buy anything else, and it will work with the stoke engine, or do i need to change the cam or whatever it is ?

I would also want to know is there a big difference between the intercooled and non-intercooled systems. because I dont want to spend a lot of money on them, and non-intercooled systems are cheaper at least by $1200

I dont want to spend more than $4000 - $4500 max $5000 on them , because i will have to pay also for shipping and installation, which will cost a lot.

If there is a kit that will cost less, it would be better

and what about used systems, how much they will cost, and is there any problems with used ones. if there is no problems with used ones, it will save me some $$$$, what do you think ?

I really need help here to decide, iam new to all this and i dont know that much.

links, sites, ideas, comments would be very helpful.

Well, # 1. You will spend more than $5K just having it installed. Most kits will cost you $4K to $ 5K depending in which one you get. Here's a link to someone that is very good at this. His name is Frank, he can help you with what ever you need. Just give him a PM http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/in...howtopic=26513

What is best for your application is going to depend on your goals. If your going for fun to drive i think the majority would say go with a radix. I personally prefer turbos but it would be nice to have power right off idle.

I recommend you do some research on different types of superchargers so you can decide what is best for you. Every kit is good but they all have their strong points and downfalls.

Any kit that you go with an intercooler is a must, no way around it. Also, most kits are very simple to install so you don't need to pay someone to do it for you.

Don't worry about the cost of installation, I have a friend of mine who will take care of that, will check that link and see how things go.

thanks MorepowerTY, appreciate your help.

Default Truck

Your truck could be a Joe gibbs performance truck. You can get the Joe Gibbs kit and have also get the 36K mile warranty with it as for the 5 speed sell that put in a nice console from a yukon, suburban or tahoe and do a T56 conversion "YEAH baby 6 speed", I am converting my other truck to a 6 speed now. We have started a few threads about this already and all the parts and part number you need are out there. Mr. Gibbs is an intercooled SC Magnasun Charger with METH INJECTION and a NELSON tune and it hauls *** with the 6speed. Big red is an 06 SILVY long bed regular cab truck that is going to have a 6 speed hopefully installed tomorrow. There is another gentlemen on here who has a 4.8 with a 6 speed swap and he said it woke his truck up because of the gearing difference of the trans.

Hope I gave you some useful info.

Just wondering what you have against turbo trucks? Also, with any FI an intercooler is a must. There is no way around it if you want to make good power.

Buying used systems is kinda sketchy unless you know the person or he has a good rep on the forum. I've seen some used procharger kits for sale from some reliable guys on here that sold pretty cheap. Good luck on a good Magnacharger kit though.

Kinda curious about your beef with turbo'ed trucks. there are some wicked trucks on here that have turbo setups and sometimes your even blessed with twins!
