Need info on Electric Fans and HP #'s
Old question, but what kind is everyone using again and has anyone dynoed before and after. I've been hearing about conversions from older cars and was wondering how the were fitted and installed in the trucks.

I am running dual electric fans off of a 2002 Lincoln Continental. You should be able to pick one up at your local Ford dealer for about $150. Make sure you get the plug and a 30 amp relay. Then all you need is about 30 ft of good wire. These fans have a high and low speed ability and they fit real nice with little modification. Good luck removing the fan nut from your stock set-up. Do a search on that subject and you can get some good advice.

Hi stoney. Welcome to the site. I saw your post on the fan nut on another board. Hopefully I won't have that problem. Your fans are on when the key is on correct ?

I have a set of LT1 fans. They aren't completely mounted yet. They fit perfectly inside of the radiator. The bottom of the fan shroud fits snugly where the stock shroud was. I am making up 2 small brackets to fit the stock shroud mounting bolt holes. I have also added a small layer of weather strip around the edges that meet to prevent any rattling. Will post pics when I am done.

I had a set of LS1 fans from a 98 trans am. They worked great, cooled good, and gave about 5 rwhp peak on the dyno. I had them on switched power source that came on when the ignition was on. I think bradwlv is selling them.(he bought them from me). They had to be modified just a bit to fit just right, but after my modding, they looked like they were supposed to be there.

Forgot the bit about HP #s. My last dyno session, I had the crank fan removed before the last run. I neddted 5 HP and 5 TQ from 4000 and above. I didn't get dyno #s below 4000, so TQ increase could be higher down low.

I'm sure they are worth alot more hp/tq in the summertime with the A/C on, (compared to the stock fan clutch being engaged).
That damn fan clutch probably pulls 50hp. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">
