need massive help
I have a 2007 5.3 gmc quadcab my engine runs fine but my tranny temp reaches into the 200's I'm running roughly 33's on it would my tire size make the tranny run that hot? I'm being told that it should be around 160

Turning a larger diameter tire will make the truck work harder, and 200*+ is way too hot IMO. I take it you are still running the stock trans cooler? Upgrading to a TruCool Max would be a good idea....

my truck has no cooler and has been running at 205-210 about 8-10 months out of the year for its entire life. I have beat on this truck all its life, truck and tranny has 130,000 and I know its on borrowed time, but it keeps going. I am running the 33s now, and it doesnt get any hotter than it used to in the summer with 29" stock tires.

Ya.. i was about to say. Is the converter locking up?
on 90*+ days in the humid *** heat i get max temps of 150*.
I have a trans cooler mounted on the front of the a/c condenser, efans on the other side of the condenser. Converter locks up in 3rd gear at 40mph or overdrive, whichever comes first. However, I am on 26" tall tires. I really dont think the tire height will make THAT much of a heat difference. They do sell trans coolers w/ fans. Or you can buy the trans cooler and buy a cheap little fan to go on it and just turn it on manually with a switch or get a harness to wire it in w/ the computer.
