Default Need more fuel

Ive been doing some more tuning on my truck, basically adding more fuel, and now my fuel pressure is dropping after 4000 RPMs. Im guessing my fuel system isnt up to the challenge. Im not sure if my inline pump is going out or if it just cant handle it anymore. It is the one that comes with the ATI kit.

I was thinking about getting the walbro gss340m inline pump that others are using. Would I be better off getting an intank or just stick with an inline? And does anyone know if my pump from ATI isnt as good as the Walbro? I figure if im gonna upgrade, I might as well get a pump that moves more than the previous one. Also where are you guys buying these pumps from. Thanks

what are you using to tune with? i ask because when i was tuning with just atap i was WAY rich and maxing out my fuel system. once i used a wideband and got an acurate tune it turned out i had pleanty of fuel.

i used a single walbro gss340m inline and left the stock pump in the tank. on an ext cab it is real easy to plumb in. i got to 9psi and a 100shot on a 6.0 and my presure didn't drop(62psi or so).

oh yeah, if you plan on going all out, like farther than i did with my last truck there is another option. racetronics offeres a duel intake set up with 2 gss340 pumps, it is plug and play, the 2nd pump is staged so it doesn't overwhelm your return line or regulator.

this set up should support alot of hp, not really sure how much but i think 800+rwhp easy with stock lines and rails.

Im not planning on going that crazy with my truck. Id like to be running 12s but thats about it.

I am using EFIlive to tune my truck, but I dont think im too rich mainly because my truck has been getting faster and it the knock sensors are picking up less as well. A wideband is on the list of things to buy though. Im gonna get some long tubes and a wideband next.

Plumbing it in wont be a problem since i already have one there.

Also what about the fuel filter? Will it turn into any kind of a restriction or do they flow pretty well.

Thanks

This might be a dumb question, but have you verified that the inline is working?

Mine worked for 2 months, then suddenly the place where I grounded the pump(crossmenber that holds the torsion bars) didn't have continuity to ground anymore! Fuel pressure dropped after 4000rpm's.

I changed the ground to the framerail, and it fixed it.

thats a good question, the filter is somethiing to look at too, it will flow pleanty of fuel but not if it is dirty.

if you dont know what kind of pump that is i think i would just swap it out for one of the walbro 340m's they are cheap. of all the pump flow charts i could gind the 340m is the best.

I already checked that the pump was on, I dont think my fuel filter is dirty since i only have 15000 miles on the truck. I think im just gonna get a new pump.

Anyone have any reccomendations on where to buy one?

Did you verify that you're getting 12 volts to the pump? Or just check to see if it was buzzing?

I thought mine was on when it wasn't because it picks up alot of vibration from the intank pump.

Yes, I know the pump is getting power, but I am unsure if it is working the way it should because It is used, thats why I was trying to find out how much mroe the walbro flows over mine because i wanted to make sure i was getting a pump that could handle what I would like to eventually do with the truck

is there a part number on that pump? i think most pumps are walbro's just sold by diferent people. if you can pull a part number off the pump we might be able to look up a chart for it.

many many people use the gss340m and it's capibilities are well known, it is also cheap and easy to install, also seems to be a dependable pump. with what you have at risk i would just toss one on. i got mine at speed inc for $119 i think. i also wired mine with number 12 wire thruout too keep the voltage drop to a minimum
