What do you guys suggest on low end performance to get more nut from dead stop? Gears and converter maybe 4.10's and a 3000 stall? Its a 4.8 2wd. TIA

IMO I would go with 3.73s or 4.10s and a 3000 stall. The 3000 stall really didnt kill my gas mileage until I stepped on it hard and trust me with the 3000 stall you wont be able to keep your foot out of it cause its so much fun, instant melted tires. I enjoyed my 3000 stall when I blew it I went to a 3400 stalls are so much fun and provide a nice smoke show when you are so inclined to give one just be sure to keep the local tire shop on speed dial. IMO a stall is the best bang for the buck as far as et drop but it wont add hp so on the highway races it wont help you but street light to streetlight it will haul ***. With the nitrous, stall, and cam it will lay a black mark all the way through 1st.

Actually, I would have recommended the opposite.

I am seriously considering going back to 3.73's and getting a converter, so I can have the tire-shredding, off-the-line power I want, with the 19-20 MPG I used to have back in the day....that went away with my 4.10's.

Can't argue with this one.

What gears do you have now? I went from 3.73 to 4.10 and a PI 3200 with a 125 wet shot(on my '01 4.8 2wd) and let me tell you, there's no way you will hook if you punch it from a dig unless you have at least some DR's. I barely hooked well when I had DR's on...even after lighting them up well. I had start without the nitrous then hit the spray at about 20 MPH for it to hook. Just an FYI

i would have to say a 4.10 gear and a 3k stall should fix any lack of off idle performance.

That would definitely cure your weak off the line problem.

edit: Make sure you get a posi if your truck didn't come with a locker. If not... your truck will be even slower off the line...

Low end performance - supercharger.

Getting away from a stoplight in a hurry due to the engine getting up in it's rpm range easier - 3000 stall.

so what about us 5spd guys lol

i sure can melt em thru first and get em 1/2 thru 2nd and scratch into 3rd...all i got is intake/exhaust. next on the list is headers, no cats, and duals with a Xpipe. and a custom tune....maybe dyno tuned but i might do a mailorder i dunno. plan on running 33" All Terrains and some 4.56 gears though
