Default Need Some Assistance!

Hello, and thanks for viewing this thread!

I am having a hard time locating information about the 2010 L96 Engine..
I have the opportunity to pick up a complete L96 and 6l90E combo but there is like NO information out there for upgrading it HP wise..

I also found some conflicting info where the L96 could be a 5.3 or a 6L the 6L puts out 323HP and the 5.3 is like 280HP..

I want to put the set up in a 1970 Monte Carlo

GM only list the motor as a marine engine when I did a search through the GM site.. This one came out of a 2010 Savanna Van. There is only 2 miles on the motor and trans..

Any assistance with information would be a huge help in making up my mind on weather to buy it or not.

Thanks.

All of the info you were given in the L96 or Bust thread was accurate. It is a 6.0 iron block motor with L92 style heads and 350ish HP. It should have "6.0" cast into the front left side of the block. Long tube headers and a mild came will make 400+ fwhp with little trouble.

Thanks.... I just wasn't sure I put the thread in the right location. With it being a new motor label and all..

It's a new designation but still the same parts we've had available for several years now. Buy it and for the most part choose your mods like its a 6.2. Is there anything in particular you need to know about it? What are they askin for it btw?

Some one told me it was the new LY6 with L92 heads... So I was thinking of doing the L76 intake for starters.. GMPP has it for around $500 complete..

The guy told me to make him an offer, I said $3700, but told him I needed the MAF and the gas peddle... He hasn't said much but he'd think about it. I think he will let it go for $4000 + the $260 in S&H..

I was looking to piece the combo together (LQ4/9, 6L80E and F-Body accessory drive system) but couldn't get a complete or long block motor with the ECM and wiring harness.. Piecing it together was adding up to way more the $4260..

Sounds like a good start, and the price seems fair if the mileage is accurate and the trans is included. Pick a good cam, match a stall to your goals, get some LT headers made and hold on tight. Also these heads respond well to porting(on the exhaust side especially) and while you had them off you could have them decked to bring up the compression too.

At the moment I'm stuck on a MAF Sensor.. Schram didn't include it with the motor and calling them hasn't done any good as the guy keeps telling me he will have some assistant look for that.. To me, if it is sold or not there just tell me so I can focus on a different direction..
So I'm in search of a MAF that will work.. I have no idea what will interchange with this motor aside from the intake manifold, accessory drive brackets, water pump and stuff like that..

LOL, just messing with ya...although I would like to see some pics if you get the opportunity. I'm a big Monte Carlo fan, I used to have an 85 SS, and have always wanted a 70-72. Some day I'd like to build an 83-88 SS with a GENIII/IV mill in it...but I can't even afford to build my current truck first lol.
