Default Need some help here guys!!!

I have done a search and now I am just looking for opinions since I don't know to much about cams. I would like some sweet low end power but with ALOT of lope. How good would a TR 220/220 112 LSA do for towing a boat? Would I need to go lower. I have the 4.8 in my truck with Pacesetter Longtubes with highflow cats. Also is there any cams that I would gain more low end and be able to use my stock converter? If the 220/220 112 will work fine for towing I don't mind getting a stall. Thanks for the help guys.

The TR220 is a big cam for a 4.8 (IMO). Will it work yes just i dont think thats the way you would want to go.

The TR220 will most likely kill your low end grunt in a 4.8 that cam loves higher rpms and a big stall.

I have a 212/218 on a 114 in my 4.8 and that cam is a dog of the line ounce i hit about 3000 it moves i dont think i would want to try to tow with it.

As for suggestions I would say the BIGGEST would be 212/218 but to keep your low end youll want to stay on the small side.

I have comp 220 @114 in my 4.8 and stock TC, honestly it did not loose that much low end, IMO mine feels stockish... my power comes on strong at ~2400-2500 all the way to 6400+... It is all in the tuning, I had to add ALOT of timing in the low rpm mid to high load areas... As long as your tuner is good and just does not tune you for WOT i think you would be fine... I would not hesitate towing with mine...

Everyone always says that you need a HUGE converter with a larger cam, IMO that is BS, alot of it is in the tuning.... Yes a larger converter will help alot, but is it required NOPE..... Before I added the timing the truck was very very slugish off the line.....

Thanks for the imput guys. I will be looking into a good cam. I am getting a tune so I would have it done right. How much of a loping sound would a 212/218 112LSA make? Would it be about the same as other cams?

Thanks for the help guys. I took your advice JDawg and I snagged a 212/218 112 LSA from Thunder Racing. From what it says you don't need a stall. What do you guys think about that? Should I run one or just get it tuned with out a stall?

Ive been running on a stock stall with my cam to me its a little sluggish off the line but Im also on 22s wrapped in 305/40s, when i put more of a decent set of tires on the truck felt so much stronger off the line.

You can most def get away without a stall.
