need some info on blazers.
i got a 95 blazer with the 4.3l v6. i was told the motor is shot. i found a deal on a 02 4.3l v6.
i was wondering whats the difference between the two motors?
is it a direct swap?
do i need the computer and wiring for the 02 motor?

there might be some subtle differences between the years...in terms of electronics/sensors etc....
you can use the 4.3 from the 02 and put it in to your 95...just strip the 02 engine down to its basic longblock (intake to oil pan), then transfer over the wiring sensors etc from the old 95 engine on to this one and swap it in...

I've done 2 swaps of 2002 motors into 97 and 98 blazers. Differences are no egr system on new motors and knock sensor is different. Use your existing intake and exhaust manifolds and for the knock sensor I made an adapter..... Sounds strange but trust me it works... find a small bolt (height wise) that fits into the block then I found a nut the Knock sensor off the old motor threads into and I tapped it onto the head of the bolt and screwed old knock sensor in. Worked perfect.. Newer blocks use a totaly different knock sensor.

I assum that the 1995 Blazer has teh CPI engine and NOT TBI. The 2002 4.3 will be Vortec and will make a nice power gain in installed on a TBI truck.
I dont see how a Vortec engine will work with a TBI intake?
If the 1995 Blazer is teh CPI Vortec all will be fine.

There is an available TBI intake for the 4.3L Vortec motor. It was available is the 95 s-10s and blazers, as well as 94 and 95 full size 4.3L trucks. You need to know if it has plastic or metal valve covers. Plastic valve covers is vortec, metal is the standard centerbolt non-vortec engine.
Also, in 95 there is NO CPI (not available until 96), there is 4 CFI setups, one black, one grey, also steel or plastic valve covers. The CFI engine was started in the 91 GMC Sonoma GT and then carried through until the CPI change over in 96. 91 through 95 CFI engines could be interchangeable with only small differences, but could require intake swapping.
Basically, if you have plastic vlave covers, get one with plastic valve covers. If you have one with steel valve covers, get one with steel valve covers.
Something to note, the all black plastic valve cover CFI engine was the most powerful n/a engine available in the s-10's complete production. Also worth noting, it was the most problem-matic. They liked to eat injector spiders and have cooling issues.
It is very unlikely you will have a TBI 4.3L in your blazer as they generally only came in the pickups.
1995 was the start of change over in the s-10's, many differences from truck to truck. It could have had an OBD2 computer under the hood, or an OBD1 computer behind the glove box. It has the "pancake" style a/c compressor and not the "log" style a/c compressor. Despite being a vortec, it used the old style accesories just like the TBI trucks.
TBI vortec
CFI - grey - steel valve covers NOT TRUE VORTEC
CPI
CFI - Grey - plastic valve cover - TRUE VORTEC
Any more questions feel free to PM me. I am locally known as the S-10 guy.
