I drove around about 65 miles last night and everything is working great! Flyer, I went ahead and took your advice and took the spacers out before hand. After the day I had, I didnt want to have to get back under there and fix anything. Everything works like it is supposed to and I am happy. Thanks for the help.

As opposed to paying someone 150 bucks or so ... I thought it was. If you don't feel comfortable about getting into the tranny though, don't attempt it. THere is a shitload of small parts and lots of places to mess something up.

i feel competent working on a multi-million jet engine.. but these trucks freak me out... of course ive had proper training on the engines though... so that probably accounts for something.

Surely if you can tear down a jet engine ... you can follow the directoins for the shift kit then ... after all it isn't rocket (or jet engine in this case) science.
OK .. that was my corny joke for the week. Seriously though ... you just have to pay good attention to the directions and have a good understanding of how it works I guess.

Yea, it was worth it to do it myself. I like doing all my wrenching anyway. If I just had a lift and knew how to weld I would have it made.
btw.. I will not install another one without a lift though. It sucks being on your back and constantly getting atf all over you.

It does feel good to install the kit and have everything turn out good in the end though. Congrats.
Now we just need to convince Greg that he can put one in also.
Get a mig welder and some scrap and you'll be able to weld pretty good in no time flat. I just went and bought a little flux core machine and taught myself in about 20 minutes. I love being able to weld and think I'm going to teach myself how to tig here very soon with a new machine.

I didn't make that bad of a mess with the ATF. I had a few dribbles, but not that bad. I will say with I was pulling it all apart under there, I did get some runs up my arm though.
