I just placed an order for 05+ factory fan harness from Nelson performance, and a pcm for my truck already setup for the fans and 160* degree t-stat. All I provid is the vin on my truck and return my stock pcm. I paid a total of 143 with shipping and tax since im in TEXAS. I will get them on Wensday.. I will post pics and how it all turns out..

I've been using the Nelson harness with my 05 efans for a few years now with no problems. Only difference in that harness between the 05 and LS1 fans is the connectors that go to the fans. I'm not sure how the fans sound in factory form, but my fans don't sound any louder than any other efans that I've heard. When they're commanded on by the PCM, with the AC off, they run on low and I can't even hear them at all. At high fan speed I can hear them at idle, but once I get moving the sound of my engine and exhaust drowns them out.

I installed Nelson's harness in '05 on my Denali and I suffered from a melted harness and went through relays every 3 months. I believe at that time he was using the same gauge wires and relays that was used for his LS1 fan setup. Hopefully he has upgraded his wire gauge and upped the relay amperage. I switched to Justin's (Blackbear) harness and I have not had a bit of trouble. Justin's harness is only $98 shipped and is far superior IMO.

the only problem i ever had with the harness and 05 fans was totally my fault.. i had connected it to the wrong green wire on my harnes..(not the pin that goes into th pcm) the one that runs up the drives side of the motor... it made the fans run on high full time.. VERY LOUDD... then i finally convinced myself did it wrong.. went back and put it on the correct green wire that im pretty sure runs to the a/c compressor... now it 1 fan on high when ac is on, no fans on when engine isnt hot a/c off,, engine hot both fans on low,, engine hot a/c on both fans on high... sweet harness id say... this was about 1 year ago and def no melted wires or crapped out relays...cross my finger

I would personally not connect the wire to the harness. I'm going to take my 1 pin harness out and purchase blackbear's 2 pin harness so that the fans coming on high is based on compressor pressure and not everytime the a/c cycles which is a LOT! (yes, even with the heater on).

The 2 pin harness and appropriate tuning seems to be the way to go now...although I don't have a problem with the way mine operates (aside from an idle issue that can be tuned out). My compressor doesn't come on with the heat on either, unless I have the defroster on....I remember that yours did though Michael, that's easy enough to tune out correct?
