i think that you should go with whoever you are comfortabel with but right now allan and candy are taking care of putting a whole new combo in my 95Z and hve been treated super well! i say go for FMS. you wont be disappointed at ALL! stop by and talk to candy and allan, they will certainly fit you in, esp since you are local. i wont even mind if he spends a few hours away from my car to work on the tune of yours!

Definately Futral Motorsports!!

You can't go wrong. He will tune everything. I would recommend putting it on the dyno for a little extra to get down and really tune that air/fuel ratio and other parameters. He dyno tuned mine and I gained another 25-30 horse more than my Hypertech Programmer.

Don't forget about the customer service that is guaranteed. Person to person. Not mail order service.

I couldn't agree more. Mail order tuning works in some cases, but having the car/truck on the dyno is nearly fool-proof. It is worth the extra $$$ without a doubt!

Just thought I would clarify. We do and have always offered free updates for a year on any tuning we do. If you make a change and want to put it back on the dyno then you would only be charged for the dyno. If you need some tweaking done to the tuning that requires us to put it on the dyno you will not be charged for that, only if you change something. Thats why dyno tuning is more in the first place but we also offer street tuning for the guys who dont want to pay the extra $100 for the dyno tuning.

Thanks

yeah i'm leaning towards allan just cuz he is right there, if i have any problems (which i doubt i will cuz none of the dozen or so people i know that he's tuned have) its no problem to take it to him. and i have never had anything personally done by them, but i can vouch for their customer service already.

candy, how much do you guys charge for the dyno time for updates?

Something I find odd is that there are dozens of tuning options out there and yet all the competition doesn't seem to be doing anything to the price. Except for pcmforless at $250. I know there are alot of badass tuning shops out there, that specialize in the fbodys but they are all pricey. Yeah yeah, you get what you pay for but seriously. Don't most of the tuners give you a generic tune that they've developed through their experience, save for changing a few values here and there for some particular mod that you have?

You've pointed something out extremely important. The two types of tuning are very different. Getting your vehicle tuned live, in-person is completely different from a mail-order tune. You are correct, mail order tunes seem to firm up shifts and lean out factory A/F mixes, producing more power, but how could those guys possibly know what to do exactly if they don't have your vehicle there in front of them? They can't, really. My main question with regards to these types of tunes is if you get leaned out too much and detonate or plunge into KR, how will you know unless you have logging software?

You're right - mail-order tuners use what they've done through trial and error on other vehicles, with tweaks here and there to allow for certain mods, and you get your tune. That's not to say that the mail-order tunes aren't good, for many people they are definite improvements over stock, and many times worth it to those ordering the tunes. But compared to an in-person tune with a good tuner, there is no contest - if you have a choice, the in-person tune will be better.
